Résumé:

This research is concerned with the study of "group method" as a strategy for a better teaching of English as a foreign language.

The teaching-learning situation is by essence a communicative and interactive process, concerning especially the teaching and learning of languages in general and English in particular. The different teaching methods and techniques, mainly those of language teaching are analysed and compared. The effectiveness of the group method as a privileged strategy is emphasised. The advantages of this method of teaching has on the  cognitive, psychological and social development of learner makes of it a viable method recommended for teaching of English in Algerian context.
